Timothy,

thanks for your feedback!

I am still in the process of learning "how a one-person company" (like me) can build an international team, but it develops quite interesting...

What I see again currently is that even the smallest amount of work needs to be specified in such a great detail ... I often feel I could do it so much faster myself.. but then - NO... :-)

best, Tom

Tom... really like this post. It hints at the virtual nature of our projects. Striking the right balance between the project manager who wants to do it all, and the PM who delegates EVERYTHING... and making it fit into a project and an organization and a culture. Even the staunchest Do-It-Yourself companies are learning that outsourcing must occur on some level, even to introduce new ideas into the system. Keep up the great posts.

Albert,

thanks for your feedback... I would suggest to

a) dig a bit deeper into my weblog - there are 200+ posts to read already - you have various categories to browse thru

b) get some GOOD books on project managent (check out my book section for those that I read)

c) DO IT
d) just do it
e) you have to work with people to learn how to work with people...

whatever you hear, learn, read or even get taught has nothing to do with what you will learn if you WORK with people...

best regards,Tom

I have really come to fall in love with PROFESSIONAL-PM PROJECT from the little I have so far read of on the surface as it deals with human management softskills which is a rare thing to find in most business organization.

I am yet to know how you operate. Please kindly acquaint me with your modus operandi and how it can benefit me. I have acquired a lot of academic certificates as regards my profession (Engineering) but lack soft skills to enable me be a good manager of both resources and personnels. How can you be helpful in this my plight?
